OSHA AND PATIENT SAFETY

What is the purpose of OSHA?

If you are in the dental industry in any capacity, you know that it is protected by multiple regulatory groups to ensure that, in addition to employment, all employees and staff are able perform their duties in a safe environment. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was established in 1971 and the primary goal of OSHA has been to ensure protection against hazardous working conditions for workers. In this effort, a system of regulation, oversight, and accountability must be in effect.

The OSHA General Duty Clause is overarching and requires “every employer covered under the Act furnish to his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees” (29 CFR 1903.1).

How do I make sure I’m OSHA compliant at my facility?

True North Training and Consulting offers on-site assessment of your facility with “mock audits”. Through mentoring we help create a culture of safety and accountability by identifying potential safety hazards and taking a collaborative approach to a solution.

The on-site assessment aids in verifying your organization has the proper OSHA safety procedures and documentation in place for compliance. All these components will give you the necessary tools and guidance for a successful OSHA inspection.

What makes us unique?

In addition to OSHA training, dental infection prevention requires skill and attention to detail to ensure that proper practices are implemented, maintained and enforced in both the patient treatment and central reprocessing areas. Bloodborne pathogens create a risk to patients and negligence in these practices can expose patients and staff to diseases.

The experts at True North Training and Consulting have dental industry experience in chairside and administrative roles. Specifically, much of the collective experience at True North Training and Consulting has been with training dental professionals in award-winning accredited dental programs.

Here are some of the professional dental infection consulting services that True North Training and Consulting provides:
