WRITTEN PROGRAM

OSH Act of 1970 States:
”Each employer shall furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees; shall comply with occupational safety and health standards promulgated under this Act.”

ADDITIONALLY

“Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to this Act which are applicable to his own actions and conduct.”

This Act, and The General Duty Clause were created to assure safe working conditions for employees by setting and enforcing standards. This is met by providing training, outreach, education, and assistance. It isn’t a “once and done” action, OSHA requires employers to have written programs on various safety and health topics pertaining to their workplaces. Also, as part of the global harmonization, OSHA changed employee training from “employee right to know” to “employee right to understand”. This means that the training process must be written and conducted in a way that the employee can understand, and have an opportunity to ask questions.

True North Training and Consulting created a Written Program to include federal requirements as well as state-specific components of employee and patient safety. Along with the purchase of our Written Program, we provide a one hour tutorial on customizing your site-specific program.
